GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® Teacher Training

The Educational Process to become a Licensed Gyrotonic or Gyrokinesis trainer has four layers.

GYROKINESIS ® Teacher Training Process


As a teacher of Gyrokinesis, you lead you lead you clients through a 60 or a 90-minute Gyrokinesis Class, based in key principles of gymnastics, swimming, ballet, and yoga. The gentle flowing movements in Gyrokinesis are accessible to all ages and ranges of ability and can be done alone or as a complement to other movement forms or exercise practices. Gyrokinesis is also great for people working with injuries or chronic pain, dancers, pregnant women, and athletes interested in expanding their range of movement and preventing injury.

There are five steps to becoming a Gyrkinesis Trainer.


• Introduction to Gyrokinesis- You must take a series of introductory Gyrokinesis private sessions and/or classes before beginning the teacher training. These session serve to familiarize you with the method and allow you to begin to integrate the principles into your own body.


• Pre-Training-- 24 hours of introduction to the material, learned so you can lead yourself through a 60-minute format. After you take the pre- training course you have three months to practice the material and enter a Level 1 Foundation Course.


• Foundation Training-- A 9-day, 36-40 hour teacher-training course in which you learn to teach the material that you have learned in the pre-training. The Level One Foundation course must be taken with a Certified Master Trainer. After this course you must begin teaching as a Gyrokinesis Apprentice.


• Apprentice Period-- During this practice-teaching period, you teach 30 Gyrokinesis classes that are a minimum of one hour in length. After you have taught 15 classes, you will take the Apprentice Review, a 3-day, 12-hour course with a Master Trainer. After this review, you must teach 15 more classes.


• Certification—After you have completed your apprentice period, you attend a certification course at Miami Beach Gyrotonic, or in Europe. This final course is 3 days in length.

GYROTONIC ® Teacher Training Process


As a teacher of Gyrotonic, you lead your clients through a variety of exercises based in key principles of gymnastics, swimming, ballet, and yoga. Exercises work the whole body simultaneously stretching and strengthening the body as a whole. Gyrotonic exercises are done on the Pulley Tower System which offers supportive resistance to the body to help increase range of motion, flexibility and strength. The gentle flowing movements in Gyrotonic are accessible to all ages and ranges of ability and can be done alone or as a complement to other movement forms or exercise practices like pilates, personal training, and yoga. Gyrotonic is also beneficial for people working with injuries or chronic pain, dancers, pregnant women, and athletes interested in expanding their range of movement and preventing injury.


There are five steps to becoming a Gyrotonic Trainer.


• Introduction to Gyrotonic- You must take a series of introductory private sessions in Gyrotonic before beginning the teacher training. These session serve to familiarize you with the method and allow you to begin to integrate the principles into your own body.


• Pre-Training-- A 6 day, 24 hours (min 4 hours a day) of introduction to the material, learned so you can lead yourself through a complete Gyrotonic workout. After you take the pre- training course you have three months to practice the material and enter a Level 1 Foundation Course.


• Foundation Training-- A 12-day, 60 hour (4-5 hours a day) teacher-training course in which you learn to teach the material that you have learned in the pre-training. The Level One Foundation course must be taken with a Certified Master Trainer. After this course you may begin teaching as a Gyrotonic Apprentice.


• Apprentice Period-- (6-12 months )During this practice-teaching period, you teach 60 Gyrotonic private sessions that are a minimum of one hour in length. After you have taught 30 sessions, you will take the First Apprentice Review, a 3-day, 15-hour course with a Master Trainer. After this review, you must teach another 30 sessions and complete a second Apprentice Review that is 3 days, 15 hours with the same Master trainer. Once you have been teaching for at least 6 months and completed 60 sessions and both apprentice reviews, you may sign up to take your Certification Course.


• Certification-The Certification Course takes place at Miami Beach GYROTONIC®, or in Europe. This final course is 3 days in length (4-6 hours a day).
